6 Scents to Boost Endorphins

Our world is in a chaotic state, to put it lightly. 2020 has been a year of shock and heartbreak for many of us. When there is a lack of control in our world, it can be helpful to transform our immediate environment at home.

Aromatherapy is a wonderful way to boost your mood and make your home more comfortable.  At Scrumptious Wicks, we offer a variety of scents that are bound to lift your mood and naturally boost endorphins. Please note that we do not recommend any of these as a substitution for consulting with your doctor.  Below are 6 scents that engage your senses in a positive way.

1. Citrus

Citrus scents not only smell great but have an energizing quality. One study at UK's Northumbria University found that exposure to lemon balm lifted patients’ moods and improved cognitive performance. So while you’re working from home, try lighting our Savage Sweetheart or Lemongrass Candles. They’re both and invigorating and are sure to instantly boost your mood.

2. Lavender

Lavender is one of the most commonly recommended scents in terms of stress relief.  Said to calm our nervous systems, it is also closely associated with improving our sleep patterns.  We highly recommend our Lavender and Sandalwood Candle to help unwind after a long day.

3. Jasmine

Soft, floral Jasmine is a soothing scent that may help improve mood and anxiety.  Our Jasmine Candle from the Garden Collection would be wonderful to light when you just need that moment of calm.

4. Rosemary

The ancient Greeks and Romans once believed that Rosemary helped strengthen memory and improve brain function. This woody scent delivers an earthy yet refreshing kick and may help increase mental focus.

5. Mint

Mint is a great scent for awakening, and what is more eye-widening than the zingy fragrance of mint?  Our Rosemary and Mint Candle is an excellent way to feel awake while also harnessing the benefits of rosemary.

6. Ginger

Ginger as we know, when eaten, has anti-inflammatory properties and helps to improve nausea. (I lived off of ginger candies when I was pregnant with my son!) For aromatherapy, it creates a warm and stimulating environment. Our Ginger and Saffron Candle brings instant coziness to your surroundings when lit --  something we all need in these unprecedented times.

At Scrumptious Wicks, we do our best at offering scents that enhance your life. Incorporating aromatherapy to meet your needs is an excellent way to nurture and take care of yourself. Stay well, my friends!
